I've completed a modest upgrade of the Flash video player (see previous posts). Fritz Thompson and I presented a picture of what we've learned about web-based captioned video for our Center at the California State University - Northridge (CSUN) annual assistive technology conference.
I prepared materials at that conference that included the updated version of the video player. This code, along with the PowerPoint from the presentation, is available for the time being at the following location:

Please note that the code needs a little more tweaking to make it readable. When I have time to finalize it, I'll post it to this forum.
The new version contains the following major changes:
1. Basic configuration is read from an external XML file, so only one version of the video player needs to be published from Flash. The .FLV file, the caption file, and the size of the video in pixels are specified in an external configuration file.
2. The player tests for an older version of Flash player (the browser plugin) and provides an error message and link to an upgrade download.
Please post issues, questions, or bugs here, or e-mail me directly.
